STATISTICAL AWARD
Excellence in executing these fundamentals is often measured by individual statistics, with the most notable scoring feats being the Double-Double and the Triple-Double.
Double-Double: An athlete achieves a Double-Double when they record double digits (ten or more) in two of the five main statistical categories: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Steals, or Blocks. The most common and expected combinations are Points and Rebounds or Points and Assists. Achieving 10 or more Steals or Blocks in a game is an extremely rare feat.
Triple-Double: The ultimate individual achievement, reached when a player registers double digits in three of the five categories. It almost always involves the most frequent categories: Points, Rebounds, and Assists. It's a testament to versatility and total impact on the game, demonstrating the athlete's ability to score, control possession under the basket, and create plays for teammates.
Mastering the fundamentals of technique and the ability to influence the game through multiple statistical methods are what distinguish great athletes and lead teams to victory in basketball.
